Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. This is my first time attempting to create and manage a blog so bear with me. Here is a bit of background:

In 2005 my first child came into the world. Warm, pink and perfect I vowed to do anything possible to build a healthy life for my little girl. A fellow mom with a son the same age as CeCe started talking about cloth diapers on our mothers message board No way, I thought. I'll make my own wholesome baby food, and I'll by the fragrance free wipes etc. but I will not cloth diaper... pins, laundry, leaks. No. However curiosity got the better of me and I visited a few of the links to the cloth diapers she was looking at. Instantly I was hooked. They were easy, economical and so darn cute! Next I had to convince my husband....

Being a numbers driven guy, I figured out the approximate price to diaper our daughter for 1 year with conventional disposable diapers. Then I calculated the approximate cost to cloth diaper her for 1 year. I needed to make a convincing argument because the initial expense to begin cloth diapering can get a bit pricey. Then for good measure I added in information I found about how bad disposable diapers are for the environment and how good cloth diapering was for the environment and I dove in for the conversation. To my surprise, he was intrigued by my want to cloth diaper and visited some of the websites I had already viewed of some well known cloth diapers available online. The numbers and the environmental impact was enough to convince him and we chose a few styles, purchased and then stalked the mailman :-)

7 to 10 days later my diapers arrived. We had decided to try two different styles: pockets and all-in-ones. The pocket diapers we chose were Fuzi Bunz and Happy Heiny's and the all-in-one we chose was Monster Baby. I was so excited! The colors, the soft fleece that would be next to her skin..... I immediately changed her diaper.

Through some trial and error regarding how much or how little to stuff the diapers for the correct absorbency we experimented with the diapers and we loved them from the start. Our grocery bill went down because we weren't buying diapers weekly anymore and we also purchased a stash of soft cloth wipes and I made homemade wipe solution which eliminated our need to purchase commercial wipes weekly. I did keep some disposable wipes and diapers on hand for when we would be out of the house for longer than a few hrs. or in case of emergency- but at that point, cloth diapers were at our house to stay.

We continued to cloth diaper CeCe until she was just under two years old. At that point I was in graduate school full time, worked full time and was a wife and mother so I slowly phased them out for disposable diapers. A friend of mine was expecting another baby and since we were not planning on *planning* to get pregnant for at least another year(or two) I sold my stash of diapers to her. Well, as fate would have it a few weeks after selling the diapers we found out God had other plans for us and I was pregnant with our second child. By the time that child was born I would still be working full time, still be in full time graduate school, still be a wife and a mother to a 3 year old. I decided against doing cloth.... at first. Well, by the time RC was 2 weeks old I had had it up to *here* with disposable diapers. They smelled bad, the were rough on his skin, his skin was always red and we had thrown out three full trash bags already of just diapers! Gross. So, online I went in search of cloth.... again.

Here enters the idea for Country Baby Diapers. I was so impressed with the cloth I had use last time... but I wanted to be even more economical this time around since we are certain he is our last baby. So, after searching and thinking about cloth diapers I began to dream up a diaper that would be perfect for me and my child. Something that was cute, absorbent and very trim. So I began to design a prototype of the first Country Baby Diaper. Now that I am not working and am a 3/4 time SAHM we are hoping that Country Baby will flourish and grow into a home run business so that I may remain at home with my children and make an impact on the environment (and our wallets) with Country Baby Diapers.
