First Attempt

My first attempt at creating a diaper was an interesting venture. I had attemted to draw a template on a piece of chart paper but none of them came looking anywhere near a diaper. I decided at that point it was time to get more technical with my attempts to make a template. I got a pencil and a ruler and opened a large supermarket paper bag and drew some lines and then made some lines that resembled a diaper. Satisfied, I cut it out and cut some out of scrap material. The diaper that resulted from this pattern was not versitile enough to accomodate a pocket, but with the sewn in soaker and trim fit it turned into a nice little fitted diaper that my son could wear with a waterproof cover. (I'll be adding pictures of my little model sporting the diaper soon, he is sleeping right now!). If this diaper were made with super soft microfleece, microfiber sewn in soaker and a supersoft outer layer it would be fit for any little tushie. However, this was not the diaper I was intending on making. So, I will set this design aside and perhaps come back to it later on. For now, my son wears it with a Bummis Super Whisper Wrap waterproof cover. This diaper, with the cover, is so super trim it isn't even obvious that he is wearing cloth. Zero bulk, and would be great for a newborn.
