Country Baby Fitted Diapers are also born...

When I started cloth diapering in 2005 I didn't consider any other diaper besides a pocket diaper. I didn't like AIO's because they took too long to dry. I didn't like pre-folds because I didn't want to deal with covers. Since contours and fitteds also required a cover I ruled those out too.

This time around it is a different story. When I was completely disgusted with disposables by the time my son was 5 weeks old, I wanted to cloth diaper as soon as possible. In a previous post, "Getting to the Nitty Gritty" I talk about how the initial cost of cloth diapering is a big investment. I didn't want to buy "pre-owned" cloth diapers from just anybody so when a fellow cd mom offered to sell me her Happy Heiny's and Kissaluvs that her son had outgrown I took the opportunity. I had no idea I would grow to love the Kissaluvs so much.

Kissaluvs are a fitted diaper that you put on under a cover. Fitted diapers are incredibly trim, and because of their snug fit to the baby, they contain messes very well. A well fitting fitted diaper with a cover can not be detected under clothing. No bulk. So, the baby's clothes fit as well as if they had a plastic disposable on. The one drawback I found to the fitted was that my baby's skin remained considerably more moist than when he wore a pocket with the stay-dry fleece lining. Still, he has not had a single diaper rash in his life so the benefit of the cotton next to his skin far out weighs the increased moisture.

Essentially, all of the practice diapers I have made could be considered fitted diapers. With cover they do the job just fine. I think Country Baby Diapers needs to have a line of fitted diapers. I really understand the value of a well fitting fitted.

**Fitted diapers cost less than pocket or AIO diapers.

**They are very trim and hold messes very well with a well fitting cover.

**You can get really creative with fitted diapers: You can add a stay-dry lining, and dew it to be "quick dry"

**You can use a variety of fabrics to make the diaper super cute for your baby. In the summer time, fitteds do not necessarily need a cover when a baby is playing outside so you can show off your baby's unique cloth bottom!

I returned to my initial pattern. Lengthened it, narrowed the middle a tad and added longer wings. I then chose a really soft and absorbency terry cloth as a lining, a really soft flannel for the outer layer, and stitched in three layers of absorbent microfiber in the middle. I added Velcro because it is what I had on hand (I was out of snaps), and there it was. The first, official, Country Bay Rapid Dry Fitted Diaper.

As you can see, Country Baby Rapid Dry Fitteds are very trim and fit very nicely under a Bummis Wrap. (The red marks on my sons legs and belly are from a diaper cover which was on too tight as he is out growing it. It has been removed from his stash). The diaper is completely hidden under the cover and does not stretch his clothing.

Fitted diapers as a whole are a great value for their cost. They are very absorbent, very easy to use, contain messes, are made entirely of soft materials, fit well under clothes and can be customised to be as simple or as funky as you wish.

Fitted diapers are now a permanent line in Country Baby Diapers.
