Chicken. Oven. Three Weeks before Christmas.

History appears to be repeating itself.

Our oven is broken. What is it with this family and ovens?!

In 2005 I was making baked chicken. After 45 minutes the chicken was nearly as raw as it was when I put it in. The heating element had gone. Luckily all of the appliances were under a home warranty and the stove was covered. This worked out in our favor because the stove was so ancient the Sears repair man declared that it was not worth repairing and we got a new stove. Merry Christmas to me.

Now, in 2008, I'm in my *new* kitchen (new at least from 2004) and I'm making... you guessed it, baked chicken, and low and behold the oven is broken. This time however we did get to at least enjoy the chicken as the oven is stuck on the broil feature and the chicken cooked perfectly (thank goodness I checked it), but on the down side our home warranty expired last January.

Those of you who know me know that the very last thing on my list of things to buy, especially now around the Holidays, is a stove. Lets hope it can be repaired for minimal cost, and not have to be replaced entirely.
