"Your dearest dreams are coming true"

That was my fortune this evening in a fortune cookie from the Wok Inn Chinese take-out place that my husband and I love. I am going to save that fortune and frame it with the first dollar that Country Baby makes. Beginning this venture has been so rewarding and it hasn't been nearly a month yet. each diaper I make gets closer and closer to the magic diaper I have in my head. Tonight, I came the closest of all. Maybe it was because was inspired by that tiny little piece of paper in the fortune cookie. Maybe it was because I was offered an invitation for a job interview today that will allow me to use my graduate degree AND give me time to sew without sacrificing time with my kids or husband. Maybe it is because "practice makes perfect" and I've started to work some of the bugs out. Whatever the reason, I feel energized, inspired and optimistic that I am on my way to making a contribution to this world that I could have only imagined possible.

When I am not sewing I am thinking about sewing. When I am finished sewing I am looking for another update to the diaper I just finished so that I may begin sewing again. I write down diaper sewing notes on scrap paper, think of different ways to re-create the art of a cloth diaper, and I spend time taking pictures of my kids sporting the diapers I have made. I am even dreaming about cloth diapers!
